IDEX Health & Science team members recently volunteered at the Special Olympics Connecticut Winter Games, providing event support and cheering on athletes with intellectual and physical disabilities.
A group of more than 15 IH&S Bristol team members helped park spectator vehicles, and supported athletes with handmade signs. With several members of the community in attendance, Team Bristol of the Special Olympics brought home a medal in every color for cross country skiing!
The IH&S team also made the local News – Take a look at video of the IH&S Bristol team. (Video begins at 1:13).
Collaborating with the IDEX Foundation, IH&S Bristol also donated $9,750 USD to the Bristol Special Olympics Team. In preparation for the Summer Games, the donation will be used to help purchase new uniforms (shorts, t-shirts, and Jackets) for close to 80 athletes.
“Being able to get out there and support the Special Olympics is something that everyone should do, at least once in their lifetime. The athletes are such amazing people – they take their sport seriously, and they congratulate and are happy for all the medal winners,” said Senior Human Resources Generalist, Irene Childs. “We had such an amazing turnout of volunteers and I cannot wait to see who will be signing up to assist with the Summer Games in June. We are growing into a work community that cares about getting involved outside of working hours and I am so happy to be able to be a part of it,” she said.
The IDEX Health & Science facility in Bristol, Connecticut (USA) is home to the development and manufacturing of plastic manifolds and fluidic assemblies for the IVD Bio market. These products are used in systems such as DNA sequencers and blood testing equipment.
