Safety Week at BAND-IT Reinforces a Culture of Accountability

By combining practical training, personal reflection and team-building activities, BAND-IT designed their annual Safety Week around a simple but powerful message: safety is everyone’s job.

This year’s Safety Week used a World Cup-inspired theme to make learning engaging and memorable. Employees received custom jerseys featuring IDEX on the front, BAND-IT on the back and the phrase “safety is my job,” creating shared purpose across the site. The competition was a quiz related to safety and the highest trending hazards at the site, particularly Lock out Tag out (LOTO). Top scorers received a light blue variation of the jersey as their prize.

Activities throughout the week encouraged employees to connect safety to their work and their personal lives. The week began with team members sharing photos that represented why they choose to work safely, displayed in hallways leading to and from production. Learning sessions were held to raise awareness on topics like heat exhaustion, heat stress, fire extinguisher training, hazard recognition, line-of-fire awareness and proper hazard reporting.

Safety Week also made space for the team to recognize BAND-IT’s progress. The site has worked for more than 365 days since its last recordable incident, currently maintains a 0.00 Total Recordable Incident Rate and lost time rate.

By the end of the week, employees committed to a shared goal: creating a workplace where everyone feels empowered to speak up, identify risks and return home safely every day.
