Fire & Safety Brings Digital Solutions and High-Rise Safety to FDIC Show

From new digital monitoring and design solutions to the North American introduction of lifesaving Vetter safety cushions, IDEX Fire & Safety shared plenty of innovation news at FDIC International in Indianapolis this week.

The largest annual trade show for the North American fire and rescue industry, FDIC is often the location of significant industry announcements. News made by IDEX Fire & Safety businesses included:

FireLink Enabled by Captium: The Future of Fire Truck Health and Performance

Picture 5, PictureAkron Brass announced FireLink with Captium; a revolutionary connected platform designed to enhance the performance and health of fire trucks. Installing FireLink and gaining access to the Captium platform empowers firefighters and fire departments to stay ahead of maintenance needs, ensuring that their apparatus is always ready to respond when it matters most.

The addition of FireLink to any apparatus and access to the software platform, Captium addresses these challenges head-on by providing real-time insights into truck health and performance.

Digital Truck Designer: The Future of Fire Apparatus Design

Digital Truck Designer | DTD, PictureDigital Truck Designer (DTD) aims to revolutionize how original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) design and maintain fire apparatus. The DTD is an intuitive design tool created to empower engineers or technicians to build apparatus wiring programs and logic in a more efficient and replicable way.

With the Digital Truck Designer, engineers or technicians can build electrical systems faster and simpler by leveraging visual-based logic programming, drastically cutting development time by 50% and production time by 30%. This state-of-the-art tool streamlines workflows, allowing for custom logic building, cataloging, and reuse, meeting the ever-evolving needs of firefighting equipment.

Vetter Safety Cushions Enter the North American Market

Vetter Rescue Products have been creating lifesaving technology since 1964. Now they are introducing the Safety Cushion SC 50 and SC 80 in the North America market.

A compact and portable solution for high-risk rescues in metro or urban environments, Vetter Safety Cushions are designed for when ariel trucks are unable to reach. Powered by compressed air cylinders for dependable performance without the need for fans or power supply, they inflate in a minute or less, requiring only 2 (SC 50) or 4 operators (SC 80) for setup and maneuvering.

Neon-yellow side walls make Vetter Safety Cushions even more visible at night or in poor weather conditions. The blue circle landing zone design, developed and verified in collaboration with psychologists, reduces the paralyzing fear of jumping.

HURST Unveils Tactical SC 258 & SC 358 Black Combi Tools

HURST announced its latest innovations, the Tactical SC 258 and SC 358 Black Combi Tools. Along with STRONGARM, they deliver a range of hydraulic breaching for every scenario. Engineered and designed for ultimate stealth and power, these tools set a new standard for covert operations in law enforcement, military applications, and tactical teams.

Featuring a blackened stealth coating with muted LEDs to remain covert during use. These tools are built for prolonged use in the field and offer a long battery life that ensures operational readiness in any scenario. Effortless one-person operation and easy tip changes on the fly, making it ideal for dynamic and fast-moving situations.

IDEX Fire & Safety Launches the Enhanced SAM Smart Nozzle 2.0

Picture 3, PictureThe SAM Smart Nozzle 2.0 is the next generation of firefighting technology designed to empower fire service personnel with enhanced safety, power, and control. With the first moments of addressing a fire critical for minimizing damage and ensuring community safety, the Smart Nozzle 2.0 speeds response for fire departments across the nation.

IDEX Fire & Safety developed the SAM Smart Nozzle technology to give crews greater control over the fireground, enabling faster and more effective water delivery. With the Smart Nozzle 2.0, firefighters can focus on tackling the blaze rather than managing equipment. The Smart Nozzle 2.0 is compatible with any apparatus that uses the SAM or SAM BOOST System

HURST Launches the S 120 E Mini Cutter

A Compact Powerhouse for Rescue Professionals

Picture 4, PictureThe S 120 E Mini Cutter, a compact extrication tool designed to meet the demanding needs of rescue and extrication professionals, enables firefighters to quickly and precisely navigate tight spaces. HURST’s new portable and efficient tool helps extricate victims in confined or hard-to-reach areas.

Bulkier tools can be challenging to use in tight spaces because their size and weight limit maneuverability, increasing the risk of injury, and delaying the rescue process due to difficulty accessing the victim. In such scenarios, the compact, lightweight, and highly maneuverable Mini Cutter ensures the safety of both the rescuer and victim.
