Bill Simmons

Bill began his career as a firefighter and brings that same sense of urgency and passion to his role as Group Executive, Fire & Safety / Diversified Products and Fluid & Metering Technologies. An experienced commercial and operational leader, Bill leads a portfolio that includes IDEX Fire & Safety businesses, Global Dispensing, BAND‑IT, Intelligent Water, Agriculture, and our core energy and industrial pump, valve, and metering businesses – focused on developing and delivering highly engineered solutions that protect people, improve infrastructure, and power critical applications worldwide.

Bill joined IDEX in 2007 and led a commercial turnaround for the HURST Jaws of Life™ business, before ultimately advancing to the role of President of IDEX Fire & Safety in 2021. With a strong focus on customer obsession and operational excellence, Bill led the charge to improve life safety outcomes through disruptive innovation such as eDRAULIC® rescue tools and SAM™ integrated total flow control technologies, which provide real-time information and automation to firefighters.  In recent years, he has expanded his scope to include architectural coatings through Dispensing and industrial banding solutions through BAND-IT. Both enterprises play market-leading roles in their respective spaces. 

Building on his history of leveraging the IDEX Operating Model for success, Bill also leads the Office of Business Services, providing support across the enterprise to fuel best in class operational performance and accelerate growth.

Raised in the Carolinas, Bill earned a Bachelor’s degree in Management from Barber-Scotia College in Concord, North Carolina. Married with two children, he enjoys spending time outdoors, whether breaking a sweat doing farm chores, riding trails on horseback or enjoying the serenity of a body of open water.
