Warren Rupp Champions Sustainability Initiatives Around Waste and Electricity Conservation

Warren Rupp has made significant strides in reducing its environmental footprint through a series of initiatives designed to drive sustainability and responsible resource management.

Indentation Tester

A key focus for Warren Rupp – a unit of IDEX that produces double-diaphragm pumps – has been the reduction of electric consumption through their Indentation Tester initiative. This project targets a continuous reduction in electricity usage by eliminating the need for compressed air during pump testing in their Endurance Room and Engineering Lab.

Depending on pump size, this initiative can save between 6,000 and 15,000 kWh per test, translating to financial savings of $600 to $1,500 per test. With an average of 11 to 12 tests conducted each quarter, the potential for energy conservation and cost savings is substantial. In 2025 alone, the program achieved a remarkable 582,241 kWh in energy savings.

3D Printer Waste Recycling

Warren Rupp has also tackled landfill waste through its 3D Printer Waste Recycling initiative. By reusing printer waste in a smaller, more efficient printer, they have significantly reduced the amount of total scrap accumulated. In 2024, the company managed to recycle 439.5 lbs (199.4 kg) of scrap material. Aside from the dust collector, which generated only three containers of unusable material, the team achieved a 97.4% reduction in waste compared to the previous year.

Wood Recycling Program

Based in Mansfield, Ohio, U.S.A., the site aims to divert over 80,000 lbs (40 tons) of materials like crates and pallets from landfills to grinding facilities where they are repurposed as landscaping mulch.

Based on data from 2024, this effort has already seen the redirection of over six tons of wood waste in the first quarter of the year. If this pace continues, Warren Rupp is on track to exceed 48,000 lbs. (24 tons) of wood waste diversion by the end of the year.

Community Waste Management

In addition to its internal initiatives, Warren Rupp actively participates in community efforts to manage waste responsibly. In 2025, they participated in the local Richland County Solid Waste Management Household Hazardous Waste Day.

With the help of the Warren Rupp Green Team, employees collected 1,985 lbs (900 kg) of household hazardous waste for proper disposal, aiding in the removal of potentially harmful materials from local landfills.
