Hale’s Facility Upgrades Reduce Electrical and Energy Usage

IDEX colleagues at Hale made meaningful upgrades to their facilities in 2025 to reduce electrical consumption and energy usage.

From 2024 to 2025, they saw a 4% reduction in electrical consumption by conducting a facility‑wide upgrade from traditional fluorescent lamps to LED lighting. To support this transition, Hale partnered with Ocala Utility Services and successfully secured a $5,000 rebate through a commercial lighting upgrade program.

After completing the project, Hale notified the utility company, which processed the final rebate. The $5,000 rebate was applied as a credit to the facility’s electric bill.

By addressing inefficiencies in its air compressor system, Hale was also able to address their energy usage. Here’s how they did it:

  • Leak Repairs: The team conducted a detailed review, identified and repaired leaks in hoses, fittings, and valves, which previously caused increased energy demand due to extended compressor run times.
  • Operational Enhancements: The team installed automatic shutdown timers, ensuring compressors only operated during necessary hours. A faulty dryer drain was replaced, and an inefficient external timer drain was disabled to minimize air loss. Finally, the compressor duty cycle was optimized to improve system efficiency.

Hale, a part of IDEX Fire & Safety, designs and manufactures pumps and integrated systems used by first responders and emergency crews when reliability matters most. Hale’s equipment helps pressurize, move, and manage water and fluids in critical, time-sensitive situations, supporting fire protection and emergency response operations around the world.
