IDEX Corporation today continued its commitment to advancing company culture by welcoming its new Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer Troy McIntosh. In this newly created role, Troy joins the IDEX Senior Leadership Team and reports directly to IDEX CEO and President Eric Ashleman.
Troy will help build the global roadmap and success measures for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) at IDEX. This work will include embedding DE&I deeper in the company culture and building inclusive leadership and cultural competence in all IDEX people through training, education, and coaching, assisting leaders as they strive to become champions for an industry-leading workplace. He will make sure systems help mitigate bias and provide more equitable opportunities for everyone to reach their full potential at IDEX. These efforts will also include increasing representation in the workforce to align with where we live and do business, enhancing supplier diversity programs, and guiding our growing Employee Resource Groups.
Troy joins IDEX from Chicago-based U.S. Cellular, the fourth largest cellular communications carrier in the United States, where he served as the Head of Diversity & Inclusion for the past five years. At U.S. Cellular he increased diversity of the workforce – particularly in leadership – and led campaigns to increase awareness of bias in the workplace and in hiring, helping build a culture of inclusive leadership. Other programs he championed helped increase supplier diversity and expand the company’s Associate Resource Groups. This year, U.S. Cellular is ranked #75 on Forbes’ “Best Employers for Diversity” list. His previous Human Resources experiences have included roles at Ingredion Inc., Pactiv, Johnson Controls, Abbott Laboratories, Sara Lee Corporation and United Airlines.
Originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan, Troy earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Philosophy from the University of Notre Dame, followed by a Master of Arts in Social Service Administration from the University of Chicago. He began his career as a high school social worker and an education consultant in the Office of Catholic Education for the Archdiocese of Chicago. His Diversity, Equity & Inclusion work today ties back to those early education roles, through which Troy was a champion for people seeking to overcome barriers and achieve a better life.
A team of volunteers from IDEX China marked the beginning of a new partnership with the Xiangcheng Special Education School (Xiangcheng Special School) in Suzhou last month, opening a new care center for disabled children in the community.
Jerry Wang, Managing Director of IDEX China, and Principal Shen Qiming of the Xiangcheng Special School, opened the ceremony for the care center, and children from the School held musical performances for caregivers and IDEX China team members.
Working alongside children from the care center, the volunteer team from IDEX China built a “Love & Happiness Supermarket” and planted “Love & Happiness Trees” during the opening ceremony.
“The event was full of happiness and laughter,” Human Resources Director Helen Xu said. “We hope the care center can warm the hearts of many children.”
In the spirit of diversity, equity and inclusion, the volunteer team at IDEX China is working to offer care to more organizations in the community. In addition to supporting the Xiangcheng Special School, the volunteer team at IDEX China partnered with Guangtai Primary School in Xiangcheng to build a library and open badminton training classes earlier this year.
The team at IDEX China hopes to continue providing support to underserved people in the community, and creating a more diverse, equitable and inclusive environment.
