Warren Rupp Colleague Helps Dogs Find New Homes, Loving Families

Company News
May 4, 2021

To help relocate pets to loving new homes, Warren Rupp’s Vice President of Sales and devoted dog lover Jim Coryell recently drove 1,500 miles in two days to help 51 dogs find new families.

Jim, who has been involved with One Love Animal Rescue since 2015, embarked on the long journey with three other dog-lovers. They split the 36-hour drive, stopping only for fuel and bathroom breaks.

The team partnered primarily with One Love Animal Rescue, but also with Jasper Animal Rescue Mission (JARM), Chatham Animal Services and Effingham Animal Services in Savannah, Georgia to safely transport dogs from Georgia to Delaware and into the care of animal rescue’s in the area.

“It was emotional, wonderful, intense at times as we drove through rain, loud with 51 dogs barking most of the time, and ultimately rewarding to see all the dogs go directly into foster care,” Jim said. “Three of the sweet dogs were adopted by the time we got back to Savannah.,”

Adoptions and purchases of dogs have soared in the United States during the pandemic, as people have sought companionship. Some shelters, particularly in northern states, have run out of adoptable animals. At the same time, shelters in southern states still had dogs, creating an imbalance that Jim and his team helped address.

Relocating these often-mistreated animals, saves their lives as 80% of the animals may have been euthanized if not for these efforts.

One Love Animal Rescue makes 6-8 trips per year to various states and rescues, transporting dogs and occasionally cats.

OBL Pumps Certified for Use in Food and Beverage Applications

Company News
April 7, 2021

Milan-based OBL, recently received the European Union’s EC 1935/2004 quality certification, validating that the companies’ pumps are safe to use in food and beverage applications across Europe.

From raw material producers to processors in the field of food packaging, through to applications such as filtration, flavoring and additives in the food and beverage segment, there are many sectors that require the use of machinery and components compliant with EC 1935/2004 quality standards.  The certification signifies that OBL equipment successfully completed lab tests on key components, does not release contaminants throughout the production process and are the product of a certified supply chain.

Numerous OBL models now comply with the quality standards, including:

– Blackline M Series –With great dosing accuracy and very low maintenance, this pump is the ideal solution for applications in the water treatment industry, power generation, pulp and paper and many more.

– Blackline H Series – Specifically designed for wine, beer and fruit juices filtration, this solution allows for dosing and mixing processes to be taken care simultaneously by a single device and allows for yeast cells and other particles to be removed without trapping molecules of aroma, flavor and tanning.

– Blackline R Series –Designed to allow for dosing high-viscous chemicals at high temperatures while granting a steady accuracy and great reliability, this pump is ideal for industrial applications that requires dosing of glue, emulsion, coating agents, oils and greases and many other chemicals.

– Topline L Series – Designed to meet the highest standards in metering industry, this positive return plunger pump is ideal for demanding industrial applications and separates oil reservoirs, reduces the risk of oil contamination of process liquid and ensures steady and accurate output.

“I’m extremely proud of the team for working together in tough times to obtain the certification,” said OBL General Manager Gianluca Maestroni. “The certification strengthens our position in the enology segment and opens new opportunities for the company in the food & beverage industry.”

PPE Seals Playing Critical Role in COVID-19 Vaccine Production

Company News
March 22, 2021

Vials of COVID-19 vaccine are swirling off production lines with the critical help of Precision Polymer Engineering (PPE), which is providing specialized elastomer parts able to withstand the chemically harsh repeat cleaning cycles of the filling systems.

High-performance seals designed and manufactured by PPE are used by Bausch+Ströbel, a German company that manufactures pharmaceutical filling lines. Failure of any component in their pharmaceutical filling equipment would result in significant delays to COVID-19 vaccine production, so PPE’s specialized seals must be of the highest quality.Vaccine manufacturers such as Pfizer using Bausch+Ströbel lines must regularly clean the filling systems with chemicals and steam, an aggressive combination that can break down lesser seals. The specified PPE elastomer seals are much more resilient to the conditions faced on these vaccine filling lines, therefore lasting longer, and enabling uninterrupted vaccine production.

Playing a part of the global vaccine rollout is a point of pride for the PPE team in Blackburn, England, where the workforce and surrounding community has been particularly hard hit by COVID-19. Posters hang on the walls reading, “The work you do is directly helping fight COVID-19. Thank you team!”

“We were proud to work on such a critical piece of equipment,” said Michael Hederich, Germany-based life science sealing specialist at Precision Polymer Engineering, with responsibility for the Bausch+Ströbel project. “The importance of this project meant that both product quality and on-time delivery had to be faultless, and I’m pleased we were able to achieve this for the Bausch+Ströbel team.”

PPE offered the ideal material grades to meet the Bausch+Ströbel specification – in this case, E70Q, S71U and S80U. The grades offered the required level of thermal and chemical resistance, mechanical strength and both FDA and USP Class VI certifications. PPE has been providing seals to Bausch+Ströbel since 2012, but never at a time more critical than this.
