IH&S Rochester, IDEX Foundation Support Kids Impacted by Remote Learning

Company News
December 7, 2020

IDEX Health & Science in New York recently partnered with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Rochester (BGCR) to provide support as COVID-19 continues to disproportionately affect minorities in the community.

In collaboration with the IDEX Foundation, IH&S Rochester provided a $22,800 donation to BGCR, which will cover the costs of one tutor for nine months, additional space barriers for STEM classrooms, and breakfast and lunch for 50 kids for nine months.

When the Rochester city school district switched to 100% virtual learning, parents in frontline jobs — who could not work remotely — began struggling to juggle work and care for their children. Although virtual learning keeps everyone safe, it has been particularly challenging for minority populations with lower incomes. Schools also provided a meal for kids who otherwise would not have food available at home.

By providing these funds, parents can focus more on work, while their kids have a safe place to continue learning virtually and be fed breakfast in addition to lunch.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Rochester has a club membership of nearly 1,500 young people ages 6 to 18, with 98% membership of African American descent. Two-thirds of club members reside in single parent households, while 91% qualify for free lunch programs. While anyone residing in Monroe County can join the Club, most club members live in the poorest parts of Rochester called “The Crescent.” It represents the “C” that surrounds the City of Rochester where poverty is most prevalent.

Employees at Advanced Thin Films (ATF), in Boulder, Colorado distributed turkeys to their employees and to the Hmong American Association (HMAAC) of Colorado last week.

With close to half of the ATF workforce originating from East and Southeast Asia, many of whom are of Hmong ethnic background (pronounced “mong”), employees were able to choose if they would like to take a turkey home for Thanksgiving or donate a turkey to HMAAC.

The team donated 45 turkeys and 2 large bags of rice to the HMAAC.

“Thanks for lifting the spirits of this community in a time of hardship,” said a representative from HMAAC. “We at HMAAC, greatly appreciate your donations of turkeys this holiday season. Your support helps to further two of HMAAC’s missions to network with local organizations and provide services and goods to the Hmong Community.”

The turkey donations will help Hmong families in the local Denver area that are affected by COVID-19 this holiday season.

Team members at IH&S in Rochester, New York, also collected non-perishable food items for the Business Council of Rochester Cares, feeding 40 families for Thanksgiving.

New FTL Customer-Focused Dynamic Testing Facility

Company News
November 18, 2020

FTL Technology, part of IDEX Sealing Solutions, recently installed new rotary and reciprocating test rigs at its Research and Development Center of Excellence in the United Kingdom.

With few customers having access to their own testing facilities to correctly validate their seals for Driveline and Plunger Pump market applications, FTL partnered with IDEX to invest in equipment to better serve customers and validate the performance of custom-built solutions prior to shipment to customers.

Engineers are now  able to simulate working application parameters and demonstrate how sealing designs react under different parameters including speeds, pressures, media, surface conditions, temperatures, atmospheric conditions, and more. In addition, the test rigs will enable engineers to perform back-to-back testing across different duty cycles, giving engineers a clearer view of how their seals will perform in the real world – rather than under strict lab-based parameters.

The test rigs are also autonomous. Once seal parameters have been set, the rigs can run without direct human supervision and log performance criteria.

“We are looking forward to sharing the benefits of our new test rig with our customers and IDEX team members worldwide,” said Mark McCormack, Engineering Director at FTL Technology. “With more refined solutions and a much more agile timescale for testing and validation, our customers can expect to benefit from significant gains through our testing and validation expertise.”

“But more important, our new test rigs afford our customers the peace of mind that our sealing systems will work reliably the first time.,” McCormack said.

FTL Technology is part of IDEX Sealing Solutions alongside Precision Polymer Engineering (PPE), Novotema, Roplan and SFC Koenig.

ADS Launches Second Installment of PRISM Solutions Platform

Company News
November 9, 2020

Technologies designed by ADS Environmental Services (ADS) in Huntsville, Alabama are making it easier than ever for municipalities to anticipate  when, where, and how sewer systems will fail in time for customers to act using data-driven solutions to prevent harm to the environmental and public health.

Building upon an installment launched last year, ADS recently revealed their second major iteration of PRISM software with significant advancements and improved machine learning.

PRISM (PRoactive Insight for System Management) is a Cloud-based web application that allows end users to view intelligent representations of flow rates, water levels, and rainfall monitoring data throughout a wastewater collection system in map-based and graphical representations designed specifically for the wastewater industry. PRISM enables municipal engineers, managers, and operations users to transform data into actionable insights through an easy and transformative user interface.

The new installment of PRISM 2.0 includes a new and improved version of blockage PREDICT, which provides an early warning system for blockages. With new algorithms that have now been trained on over a MILLION days of data, ADS PRISM customers are able to get answers sooner about growing anomalies and the performance of their collection systems.

Answers to critical wastewater collection system problems require high speed data assurance and integrity.  PRISM Advanced Data Editing amplifies the sewer data results with lightning fast data review and on-the-fly advanced data analysis, editing and validation enabling users to transform critical data into actionable insight.

PRISM 2.0 also supports 3rd party data integration using advanced APIs, enabling customers to access data from other services like USGS (United States Geological Survey) and have data available right along with all the other locations.  These imported locations can be used along for review as well as with ANSR (Advanced Numerical SolveR) calculations to determine different flow patterns. ANSR is PRISM’s “calculation engine” which places mathematical and engineering principles in the user’s hands to transform data “on the fly” into actionable intelligence.

Toptech Systems Releases TMS7 For Improved Productivity, Flexibility

Company News
October 25, 2020

With more companies wanting to access their terminal management system using mobile devices and market demand for increased productivity and security, Toptech Systems in Longwood, Florida, recently introduced their new TMS7 terminal management system.

A terminal is an petroleum storage and distribution facility that usually serves as the step before petroleum makes it to a gas station. It’s a gas station for the gas station. Each terminal uses a software tool called a terminal management system to help them keep track of how much oil has been loaded, what’s been offloaded, and what drivers are authorized to load.

Building upon TMS6 whose original version was launched in 2004, TMS7 features several major improvements over traditional terminal automation systems, including improved productivity, flexibility, and security.

TMS7 is accessible in any web browser from any internet enabled device, whereas TMS6 had to be installed on each computer and it is not optimized for mobile use. Plus, to offer a more productive experience, Toptech engineers developed a user-friendly interface, superior security and a built-in user guide for each page of the system.

Additional features include:

– Multiple screens allow the user to create and save custom filters, plus hide and rearrange columns to quickly view relevant data.

– Powerful search feature (similar to the Google search bar) that allows customers to completely bypass the traditional menu and go straight to what they need.

– Export data more easily from key screens to excel (choose between XLSX or CSV). Users can export using their custom filters or they can export all the columns.

– Major and minor upgrades take less than 5 minutes. TMS7 enables users to upgrade their system with the click of one button. In previous versions of TMS, the upgrade process was long and complex, resulting in extended lane closures and business interruptions.

Recently, Toptech Systems completed the first TMS7 installation, which was an upgrade from TMS6 to TMS7. The customer is very pleased with the results and already working to place TMS7 in a second location.

Matcon Releases New Manual Cone Valve for US Market

Company News
October 8, 2020

An innovation recently introduced by Matcon enables manufacturers to increase output and improve efficiencies.

To overcome the issues of core flow, particle rolling, and mix segregation, Matcon, which provides Intermediate Bulk Container (IBC) technology for powder, granule and tablet processing, recently announced the release of the new Manual Cone Valve for US markets.

In the past, IBC operators using butterfly valves for powder discharge often experienced product bridging (when the product seems to stick in one place) and would spend time hammering the sides of the bins to discharge powders, resulting in damage to the container. Additionally, IBC operators sometimes found the mixed product would segregate leading to consistency issues in the end product.

Designed for Food, Beverage and Chemical applications, the new manually operated Cone Valve promotes mass-flow discharge of free-flowing powders preventing segregation of powder mixes and ensuring product quality.

All materials move at the same time so there’s no particle rolling and hence the quality of the mix is preserved.

The Manual Cone Valve can be easily retrofitted to any existing flanged IBC outlet, providing a cost-effective way of delivering superior powder handling capabilities to an entire IBC fleet.
